Imagine paying for a buffet, then finding a spoon small enough to serve a flea. That is our visual joke about Grok Bot's tighter limits, not a real restaurant Musk opened.
Grok Bot is an AI assistant. Answering requests takes computing power, which costs money.
Subscription payments bring money in, but serving those subscribers still creates bills.
TechCrunch reported on 2 November 2026 that some users said their weekly usage limits unexpectedly filled up over Halloween weekend, even without overnight use. Those are user reports, not independently measured usage changes.
On X on 1 November, Elon Musk wrote: "The cost of serving Grok Bot was unsustainably high relative to revenue."
That is Musk's explanation, not an audited financial statement. TechCrunch reports that he confirmed the change was not a glitch.
He has not shared how subscribers' limits will be affected going forward.
The absurdity: the digital assistant still needs a very physical supply of computers and electricity. Calling something artificial intelligence does not make its electricity bill imaginary.
This does not establish that the whole business is losing money. It tells us Musk says serving Grok Bot cost too much relative to the money it brought in.
The useful takeaway: check the current limits before building your day around a subscription. Access to an assistant and enough allowance to finish your work are different things.
Repost if your futuristic buffet also came with dollhouse cutlery.
