The real news
The story, straight
A Fitbit records your heart rate. A calendar records your meetings.
Compare their timestamps and you can look for meetings that coincide with a racing pulse. That is a clue about stress, not proof of its cause.
Now put the computer doing the analysis where the wine used to go.
Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke said on Alex Heath's Sources podcast, released 28 October 2026, that he converted his underused wine cellar into a computing room. Business Insider reported his account on 29 October.
He described having “one of those GB300s from Dell” and said it was training models. He said his personal AI setup collects information including Fitbit data and his calendar, helping him identify his most stressful meetings.
My imaginary cellar serves a red made from dread. Pairs beautifully with an invitation marked mandatory.
A local AI model runs on hardware you own; its processing can stay inside your building. A cloud model sends information to someone else's computers.
Lütke said running locally lets him work with sensitive information he cannot send to an outside lab. That is his privacy argument, not evidence that every cloud service is unsafe.
This is his account of a personal setup, not a confirmed Shopify deployment. The article does not establish what his machine cost or which models he runs.
He said he told the people involved about his stress findings. They apparently enjoyed the discovery less than he did.
No names needed: the joke is the cellar becoming a tasting room for calendar dread.
The useful upside: comparing information you already collect may reveal patterns worth investigating. A pulse spike cannot explain itself.
Start with a question, not an accusation.
Repost if your calendar also needs a warning label.

The absurd
Why this is ridiculous
Notes of oak. Finish of panic.
The breakdown
How it breaks down
Fitbit pulse meets calendar; local AI runs on his hardware.
The upside
Why it could matter
Spot stress patterns, not proof of what caused them.
