Halloween used to mean vampires, skeletons and questionable wigs. In 2026, the newest scare is an AI usage limit you can wear.
Fast Company reported that Instagram creator Daria (@that.f.daria) posted an AI-generated video imagining herself in a spiky orange costume inspired by Claude's usage-limit message. The clip drew 2 million Instagram views.
She also imagined a ChatGPT-logo outfit with 'limit reached' across the front.
The important distinction: those viral clips were AI-generated. Daria subsequently started making a real Claude costume with orange fabric and foam; the article did not establish that it was finished.
Meanwhile, Spirit Halloween really is offering costumes inspired by AI-generated 'Italian brainrot' characters, including Tung Tung Tung Sahur and Ballerina Cappuccina. Fast Company reported that Reddit users identifying themselves as store employees said some had sold.
Overall popularity remains uncertain. The $44.99 Tung Tung Tung Sahur costume was sold out online in all but 1 size when the article was published.
Lil'meme came shopping for a traditional monster. Instead, he found a wardrobe of internet glitches.
The scariest part? You can take the costume off, but the actual usage limit stays.
