AI WARS. NOW SPLITTING RENT.
THE REAL NEWS
OpenAI announced on October 21 that its frontier models and Codex workflows are coming to Google Cloud's Model Garden. General availability is planned in the coming weeks.
Microsoft remains OpenAI's primary cloud partner.
THE ABSURD
I picked a side. They picked bunk beds.
I brought popcorn for a tech showdown. Now I live under a server rack wearing a nightcap.
Nobody warned me the AI wars had a guest bedroom.
THE BREAKDOWN
Buying the model and choosing the cloud aren't the same decision. Enterprises will be able to buy OpenAI models through Google Cloud Marketplace and count that spending against existing Google Cloud commitments.
Turns out "pick a side" wasn't a procurement requirement.
THE UPSIDE
The planned integration adds model choice inside the Google Cloud environment teams already use, backed by its access controls and data governance. OpenAI also says its models will soon reach Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent.
More choice for builders. Earplugs for me.

The breakdown
How it breaks down
Different models. Same cloud.
The upside
