A crypto gain is the money received when you sell minus what you paid. Annual net gains account for losses too.
A tax threshold decides when that profit becomes taxable. Greece's new threshold comes with a trapdoor.
According to Decrypt's 6 November report, parliament approved the framework on 5 November 2026. It starts 1 January 2027.
Individuals with annual net crypto gains of €500 or less are exempt. Exceed €500 and 10% applies to the entire gain, not just the excess.
Decrypt's example: €600 in net gains produces €60 tax, not €10. The €100 above the threshold brings €60 in tax.
Lil'meme arrived at his profit milestone with confetti. The floor arrived with a resignation letter.
Earning tokens works differently from selling them for a profit. Staking earns rewards for helping secure a network; lending earns returns from borrowers; providing liquidity supplies tokens for others to trade.
Those returns face a separate 15% tax as interest income.
The useful lesson: keep records of purchase costs and sale values, and calculate tax before spending your gains. A threshold is not automatically an allowance deducted from the taxable amount.
Read before celebrating; confetti has terrible resale value.
Paul's personal outlook, not a guaranteed return:
Hardships are coming. I, the Big Dreamer, created this token to help the people.
I truly do see this token going up in value. Ride the rocket with me and let's see where the next 24 months take us.
