The real news

The story, straight

A crypto exchange lets people trade digital money. Banks provide routes for moving money to and from exchanges.

Blocking those routes restricts access without necessarily closing the exchange everywhere.

On 6 November 2026, the US Treasury's financial-crime agency, FinCEN, issued an order prohibiting US financial institutions from transferring funds to or from MEXC Global. It takes effect 30 days after publication in the Federal Register, not 30 days after the announcement.

Treasury alleges MEXC facilitated at least $16 billion in funds connected to sanctions evasion, cybercrime and other illicit activity between May 2021 and May 2026. That is alleged money movement over 5 years, not a fine, profit or money seized.

The contradiction: Treasury says MEXC claimed safeguards against money laundering, meaning disguising money's criminal origins, but severe weaknesses allowed prohibited transactions through. MEXC says it maintains anti-money-laundering and sanctions controls.

So Lil'meme is plugging a gushing money pipe with a laminated policy. Finally, paperwork that can survive the failure it didn't prevent.

This is a FinCEN transfer order, not an OFAC sanctions designation. It does not establish that MEXC is insolvent or that users cannot withdraw.

The useful lesson: a written promise is not evidence that safeguards work. Check the protections behind the brochure.

Repost this before someone upgrades compliance to thicker laminate.

Waterproof policy.

The breakdown

How it breaks down

The upside

Check safeguards.
