The real news
The story, straight
A chief of staff manages the president's team: organizing staff, decisions and access to the boss. Congress is different.
Voters elect its members, who write laws and control federal spending. Changing the president's staff doesn't change those election results.
On 6 November, Trump announced that Stephen Miller would replace Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff starting Monday, 9 November. Republicans had just lost control of both chambers of Congress in the 3 November midterms.
NBC News reports that Wiles submitted her resignation Thursday night, according to a White House official. Trump said she would move to his political operation.
Miller was already his deputy chief of staff.
The timing supplies the joke: an election setback outside, an office upgrade inside. Lil'meme is pumping up an enormous executive chair for Miller.
Finally, something in Washington with a clearly identified source of inflation.
That doesn't establish that Miller or Wiles caused the losses. A personnel change isn't proof of blame, and a promotion isn't a public mandate.
The useful distinction: watch what the new team actually does. A bigger chair changes the seating plan, not the voters' verdict.

The absurd
Why this is ridiculous
Election setback. Office upgrade.
The breakdown
How it breaks down
Chiefs of staff manage the president's team, not Congress.
The upside
Why it could matter
A promotion doesn't erase voters' choices.
