The real news

The story, straight

Your phone already holds boarding passes. Now eligible US Galaxy users can hold digital dollars in Samsung Wallet, too.

Apparently my money needs its own boarding pass.

USDC is a digital token designed to track $1. Solana is the shared digital record used to track its transfers.

Samsung Wallet now lets eligible users buy, hold, send and receive USDC without another crypto app.

The catch deserves a velvet rope: Decrypt reports a 4% fee for credit-card top-ups. Moving money into your wallet now comes with nightclub economics.

Samsung charges no transfer fee for sending USDC to other Samsung Wallet users or compatible external wallets, although other providers may charge. Withdrawals to a bank account or debit card cost money, too.

Free transfers do not mean every step is free.

This is not a bank account. Bastion manages the accounts, and Coinbase safeguards the USDC through Coinbase Prime Vault.

Users do not manage private keys, the secret credentials that control crypto transfers.

Access requires a compatible Galaxy device running Android 13 or later. Users must be US residents aged 18 or older; New York is excluded.

The useful part is simpler access without another crypto app. The useful habit is checking the complete route: funding, transferring and cashing out.

A free corridor can still have expensive doors.
