The real news
The story, straight
Imagine judging a driver by petrol burned rather than passengers delivered. The fuel meter works perfectly.
It just doesn't tell you whether anybody got anywhere.
AI has a meter too. A token is a chunk of text, roughly part of a word, that a model reads or writes.
Providers charge per token. Usage measures consumption, not automatically useful work.
On 4 November, South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Coinone said it tracks employees' use of Claude on a live dashboard. Korea Economic Daily reported the announcement; Bloomingbit carried the English coverage.
Introduced in February, the headquarters display lists employee IDs, 10 at a time, ordered by token usage. Coinone says making usage visible encourages staff to compete to use AI more.
Employees near the top receive monthly rewards; the report doesn't specify the prizes.
Lil'meme has consequently pulled up to an imaginary laptop petrol station. Premium adjectives, please.
He's trying to overtake accounting.
The useful distinction: Coinone also considers how much AI-generated output improves work efficiency in employee evaluations. Its stated aim is to hand repetitive work to AI, freeing people for creativity and judgment.
That's the upside worth testing. Compare the time a task takes and check the result.
A bigger bill can accompany better work, but the bill alone cannot prove it.

Hardships are coming. I, the Big Dreamer, created this token to help the people.
I truly do see this token going up in value. Ride the rocket with me and let's see where the next 24 months take us.

The absurd
Why this is ridiculous
Like ranking drivers by petrol burned.
The breakdown
How it breaks down
Tokens are text chunks. Providers charge to process them.
The upside
Why it could matter
Measure work improved, not just tokens consumed.
