The story, straight
A ChatGPT subscription pays for access through an account: your login. But the account isn't the only thing OpenAI checks.
It also limits how many paid accounts can use a device and can block new subscriptions associated with the same payment card or device.
Your laptop has acquired nightclub management. Unfortunately, nobody has published the capacity.
As The Decoder reports, OpenAI's limits cover Go, Plus, Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500. Free, Business, Enterprise and Edu don't count toward the device limit.
OpenAI describes the restrictions as privacy and security protections.
The important distinction: a usage limit concerns how much you can do with your subscription. A device restriction concerns whether that paid account can be used on that machine.
Signing out doesn't guarantee another account becomes eligible. The digital equivalent of leaving the queue and discovering your coat is still holding your place.
OpenAI hasn't published the cap figures. Its Help Center also says buying credits or resetting usage won't clear these restrictions.
A warning can even appear after a purchase initially worked.
The useful move: if a restriction seems wrong, ask Support to review it, especially when sharing a card or device. Don't buy another subscription assuming it will solve the problem.
The imaginary bouncer doesn't accept optimism as identification.
Hardships are coming. I, the Big Dreamer, created this token to help the people.
I truly do see this token going up in value. Ride the rocket with me and let's see where the next 24 months take us.
