The story, straight
AI learns patterns from examples, then uses those patterns to generate answers. Tests compare how well different systems perform.
They are useful scoreboards, not guarantees that a model will handle your particular work.
On Moonshots, hosted by Peter Diamandis, a panelist cited analysis putting Kimi about 5 weeks behind the leading US models. That is an estimate of the capability gap, not a stopwatch reading or a promise about what happens next.
Moonshot AI released Kimi K3.1 Pro. Despite the similar names, the company is unrelated to the Moonshots show.
CGTN reports that Artificial Analysis placed Kimi 4th, scoring 55, with the gap between leading open-weight and proprietary systems narrowing from 12 points to 3.
Open weights are the learned settings others can download and run. Kimi's full weights are promised by November 4, 2026; don't confuse that promise with an already completed release.
Naturally, Lil'meme is defending his server with an inflatable moat. Unfortunately, the competition appears to have ankles.
The Moonshots panel also debated distillation: training an AI using another AI's answers. That discussion does not establish that Kimi copied a particular model.
The useful upside is competition and potentially more choice. Try models on your actual tasks before buying the leaderboard trophy a chair at your desk.
Hardships are coming. I, the Big Dreamer, created this token to help the people.
I truly do see this token going up in value. Ride the rocket with me and let's see where the next 24 months take us.

The absurd
Why this is ridiculous
My fortress needs a lifeguard.
The breakdown
How it breaks down
AI learns from examples; test scores aren't guarantees.
The upside
Why it could matter
More competition. Test before paying.
