The real news

The story, straight

A drive-thru is supposed to let you order lunch without leaving your transport. Nick Holden supplied the transport.

Apparently, the engine was sold separately.

BBC Hereford & Worcester reports that Holden rode his black-and-white pony, Sparky, to McDonald's in Wychbold, Worcestershire. Nobody answered at the speaker, so they went to the first window and waited until a staff member spotted them.

Holden got chicken nuggets and fries. Sparky got a free bag of apple slices.

They later stopped for a picnic in Hanbury Woods. An excellent lunch, with unusually complicated parking.

How does a drive-thru detect customers? Some systems use a wire loop buried beneath the lane.

A car's metal changes the loop's magnetic field, triggering a signal that can alert staff. Think metal detector, not camera.

Equipment supplier EMX explains this mechanism, but the BBC does not identify this branch's sensor or establish why nobody answered. Blaming a pony-blind detector would be a joke, not a confirmed diagnosis.

McDonald's guidelines allow motor vehicles and road-worthy mobility scooters, not horse riders. The BBC does not establish the reason for that policy either.

Holden's argument: horses were the original transport.

The useful upside is smaller and better than a technology miracle: staff were helpful when Holden reached the window. The ordering process stalled; the people still delivered lunch.

Including the apple-powered customer's.

Hardships are coming. I, the big dreamer.

Created this token to help the people. I truly do see this token.

Going up in value. Ride the rocket with me and let's see where the next 24 months take us.

Repost this: the speaker isn't spreading the word.

The absurd

Why this is ridiculous

The speaker stayed silent. The pony got free apples.

The breakdown

How it breaks down

Some lanes detect car metal using buried wire loops. This lane's sensor is unconfirmed.

The upside

Why it could matter

The window staff served them anyway.
