The real news

The story, straight

A spreadsheet can be more than boxes and sums. It can hold the rules a business runs on: which customer gets an exception, which cost belongs where, and why that apparently pointless check exists.

An AI-native junior uses artificial intelligence tools every day to draft, summarize and reformat. Those tools can compress routine work into minutes.

That means faster preparation, not automatically better judgment. A small team can get more done without becoming magically all-knowing.

That distinction matters in Moonshots episode 306, hosted by Peter Diamandis and published October 28, 2026. Around 5:40, a panelist said some companies were increasing graduate hiring and replacing older workers because younger recruits were more AI-native.

No study, dataset or named employer was offered. Another panelist pushed back, and the speaker ended with: "But generally, it's a problem."

This was a disputed anecdote, not proof of a hiring trend.

Our imaginary office settles the debate by giving Lil'meme both workloads. Apparently the breakthrough technology was adding another attachment to his job description.

The useful answer isn't a birthday contest. Pair the junior who can accelerate the boring work with the veteran who understands what must not break.

A model cannot reliably apply an unwritten business rule nobody has shown it.

Keep the speed. Keep the knowledge.

Otherwise you've bought a faster way to miss the point.

The absurd

Why this is ridiculous

Their hiring debate becomes my workload.

The breakdown

How it breaks down

AI drafts faster. Veterans know the business rules.

The upside

Why it could matter

Pair them. Don't confuse speed with experience.
