Coding agents are programs that write and edit code. Conductor lets several work at once in separate copies of a project; a person checks and combines their changes.

It coordinates tools such as Claude Code and Codex, rather than making the models. Users bring their own subscriptions.

Think group project, but you still mark the homework.

Meta has acquired Conductor, TechCrunch reports. The price was not disclosed.

Buying the coordinator puts Meta in the workflow where people direct those tools; it does not mean Meta bought the other labs' models.

For existing users, the welcome party comes with packing instructions:

4 November 2026: new sign-ups stopped.

13 November: Cloud becomes read-only; active subscribers get refunds.

20 November: Cloud closes and deletion of cloud user data begins.

Early 2027: the local Mac app starts winding down; new models and critical fixes continue until then.

The useful part: move cloud workspaces to your Mac with Transfer to local, or download everything through Settings > Account > Export data before 20 November.

Conductor says it has never sold or trained on user data and will not; remaining app data will be deleted when the app shuts down in early 2027.

Lesson: when a tool becomes part of your working day, know how to leave with your work.
