The real news

The story, straight

Buying a ticket lets you enter. It doesn't mean everybody else has to leave.

That's the distinction behind Poolside's enormous reported deal with Nvidia. Airtrain reports Nvidia paid $6 billion in August 2026 for a non-exclusive licence to Poolside's Model Factory.

In other words: permission to use the technology, not exclusive ownership of it.

Lil'meme has arrived at the factory with an enormous payment and the expression of someone discovering his private entrance is a turnstile.

Poolside builds AI that helps with computer programming. Its Model Factory handles the preparation of training data and the training process that develops those models.

Think of it as the production system, rather than just the finished product.

Non-exclusive means Poolside can license that technology to other customers too. It doesn't establish that any particular rival has signed a deal.

Airtrain separately reports Nvidia committed $1 billion in equity. Equity buys a share of a company; a licence buys specified rights to use technology.

Different purchases, different receipts. Apparently neither receipt fits in a normal wallet.

The useful part for businesses: Poolside offers models that run on infrastructure customers control, including private environments. Sensitive code needn't take a sightseeing trip through an outside service.

The article is the source for these deal figures, not independent confirmation. Its funding totals are inconsistent, so we're not repeating those totals.

Repost this for everyone who thought billions bought the whole building.

The absurd

Why this is ridiculous

That price doesn't buy exclusivity.

The breakdown

How it breaks down

It trains AI. A non-exclusive licence lets others license it too.

The upside

Why it could matter

Businesses can run Poolside models on infrastructure they control.
