The real news

The story, straight

An AI assistant can draft text or summarize information you give it. Connecting it to company email lets it work with company information.

That can make it more useful, but deciding what it may read matters. An assistant needs a desk, not automatic access to the vault.

On the October 30 All-In episode, a panelist argued that corporate cybersecurity fears are holding back workplace AI adoption. Lil'meme's interpretation: congratulations on your new assistant.

Visiting hours are Thursday.

The panelist read roughly 10-20% usage figures from an on-screen Gallup chart. Those were approximate readings, not precise survey quotations.

The suggested rise to 60-80% was a panelist's expectation, not an established outcome.

Gallup's own October 6 report provides a firmer reference: in its January-March 2026 survey, 28% of US employees reported using AI at least weekly, while 54% had not used it in their role. Those figures should not be treated as interchangeable with the panel's chart reading.

Gallup also notes that jobs differ: not every role involves regular access to digital devices or obvious uses for AI. Security is the panelist's explanation, not a cause established by those percentages.

The useful takeaway isn't to unlock everything. Try approved tools, grant access only to needed information, and check the output.

An assistant that can help safely beats a laptop doing solitary confinement.

The absurd

Why this is ridiculous

The assistant gets hired. The laptop gets jailed.

The breakdown

How it breaks down

AI needs permission to read company files before helping with them.

The upside

Why it could matter

Start with approved tools and limited access.
