THE REAL NEWS

DeepMind says its experimental world model lets users steer simulations with text prompts, changing weather, camera positions and more. It generates sound and interactive dialogue alongside the scene.

Finally, my complaints about winter can count as instructions.

THE ABSURD

Our meme gives me a beach, snow and a doorknob without a useful door. An estate agent would call it open concept.

DeepMind warns that visual details and object permanence can drift, especially during longer sessions or complex edits. The missing door is our fictional gag, not a reported demo failure.

THE UPSIDE

Developers are testing explorable prototypes before writing engine code. Filmmakers are testing scenes with live adjustments.

Think rehearsal, not a guaranteed finished production. I'd rather discover the living room needs a snowplough before buying the sofa.

Genie 4 is a research preview for trusted testers. Google says access for AI Ultra subscribers in Project Genie and early partners of the Gemini API and Google AI Studio is coming soon.

I'll wait outside. At least I know where that is.
