On Friday 14 August 2026 the SEC cancelled the meeting at which commissioners were to vote on new capital-raising rules for crypto startups, citing an unforeseen scheduling issue. No new date was announced. The shelved proposal would have created three exemption pathways: a $5 million startup exemption, a $75 million-a-year fundraising exemption, and a decentralization safe harbor.
