The real news

The story, straight

A grocery bag doesn't drive itself home from the warehouse. Trucks use fuel to move it.

When transport gets pricier, that can put pressure on food prices too. A gas-price jump can reach people who barely drive.

On All-In's November 7 episode, a panelist argued that the ongoing Iran war's fuel-cost shock spread through household budgets and helped explain the election rout. That's his explanation, not proof that fuel alone decided the result.

ABC News reported that Election Day gasoline averaged $4.14 a gallon nationally, according to AAA. Its Voter Poll found 79% of House voters said inflation caused their families moderate or severe hardship over the previous year.

Inflation means prices rise overall, so the same money buys less.

But ABC's reporting goes beyond the pump: voters also worried about groceries, healthcare and utilities. The gas nozzle wasn't the entire opposition party.

It had a coalition of bills.

Lil'meme's solution is to shove a gas nozzle into a ballot box. Unfortunately, democracy doesn't have a discount-grade handle.

The useful takeaway: compare your whole household bill, not just the biggest number glowing beside the road.

Hardships are coming. I, the Big Dreamer, created this token to help the people.

I truly do see this token going up in value. Ride the rocket with me and let's see where the next 24 months take us.
