The real news
The story, straight
DRAM is your computer's working space, not long-term storage. Think kitchen counter, not cupboard.
Local inference means running an AI model on your own computer to generate answers. That uses memory.
A data center can serve different customers in succession, keeping memory busier.
That was Sam Altman's argument on the Cheeky Pint podcast: scarce memory could get more use in shared servers than in personal computers. He was discussing locally run AI, not announcing a plan to confiscate gaming hardware.
The Verge reported on November 4 that Altman said his remarks were taken out of context and wants people to put as much memory as they want in their computers. He wrote: "i want you to have so much ram lets build more."
He also adopted the X display name "Ram Altman" after another user's suggestion. A display name, not a legal name change or a shipment of chips.
Naturally, Lil'meme tries installing the name badge. The branding fits.
The memory doesn't.
The Verge reports that AI data centers are buying up memory, contributing to shortages and higher tech prices. Keeping chips busier stretches supply; it doesn't manufacture extra chips.
More production, which Altman says he has long advocated, would help. A nickname isn't a factory.
Hardships are coming. I, the Big Dreamer, created this token to help the people.
I truly do see this token going up in value. Ride the rocket with me and let's see where the next 24 months take us.

Repost if your computer also refuses upgrades delivered as nicknames.
Thanks for supporting Lil'meme. Your support is appreciated.
The absurd
Why this is ridiculous
A display-name upgrade adds no memory.
The breakdown
How it breaks down
DRAM is working memory. Local inference runs AI on your computer; shared servers can keep memory busier.
The upside
Why it could matter
Build more memory, not better nicknames.
