A video game needs rules: what moves, what attacks and what happens next. Google says its Antigravity AI tool can turn ordinary written instructions into working game mechanics.
Think describing an obstacle course instead of programming every obstacle yourself.
Henry Cavill is using Google's tools on a Googlebook to build Mustache Protocol, which Google describes as a retro 16-bit game. Its fictional mission: stop rogue CGI artists from erasing every mustache on Earth.
CGI means computer-generated imagery: software makes or changes what appears on screen.
Humanity gave computers creative powers. Naturally, we now need a game about protecting upper lips from them.
Google's 4 November announcement introduces the series showing the build. Episode 1 is available, with more episodes coming.
The game is not available to play yet; Google says it will become playable when finished.
Google describes Rambler as a tool that turns speech into polished text, while Magic Pointer helps select and combine visual elements. These are Google's descriptions, not an independent test of how easily anyone can build a game.
The useful part: Google says it will donate $11 for every play during November, up to $500,000, through its Movember partnership. That is a pledge, not money already donated.
Funding supports men's mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
For now, watch the build or sign up for launch updates. The mustache has a rescue mission.
The rest of us still have a loading screen.
