CAITLIN CLARK TURNS MRBEAST INTO A CASH MACHINE

The real news

The story, straight

A basketball doesn't care who paid for the cameras.

A 3-pointer is a basket shot from beyond the court's long-distance line. In MrBeast's charity challenge, each successful shot paid Caitlin Clark $10,000.

The half-court challenge offered $50,000 for making a shot from around the court's middle before her opponents did.

Clark made 4 3-pointers, worth $40,000, then sank the half-court shot on her 2nd attempt. Total: $90,000.

This was entertainment, not a WNBA game or an official league record.

According to the Gameday Chatter report carried by Yahoo Sports, Clark said the money would go to the Caitlin Clark Foundation, which supports young people. That is her announced destination for the money, not confirmation that it has arrived.

MrBeast's business turns expensive challenges into something people want to watch. Here, the expensive part was inviting someone who could actually complete the challenge.

In our imagined scene, I'm pumping cash into a basketball, trying to inflate my talent. Clark has apparently found the cheaper setting: practice.

The useful upside isn't that money buys nothing. It can support young people.

It just cannot take the shot for you.
