HMRC collects UK taxes. Wealth can sit in businesses and property, so understanding someone's taxes means connecting those pieces.

A Customer Compliance Manager is HMRC's contact who coordinates that work, not your adviser. Allocation alone isn't an investigation and creates no new tax or powers.

HMRC defines wealthy as income over £200,000 or assets over £2 million in any of the last 3 years. Its 28 October plan counts 1.3 million people and says over 200 billionaires with a UK tax footprint have named managers.

That is not an audit team for every £200,000 earner.

LBC reports 3-page Wealthy Team letters asking about holdings and requesting a meeting. HMRC told LBC the number sent was in the low hundreds.

Extension to around 850,000 people is only a possibility reported by The Sunday Times, cited by LBC.

Separately, LBC reported that super-rich residents worth £121 billion had left the UK since 2024, citing Bloomberg index analysis. That isn't tax revenue lost, and it doesn't establish that the letters caused departures.
