APPLE ADDS TOUCH. SHOULDERS PROTEST.

Apple has finally put a touchscreen on the MacBook Pro. Early reactions suggest your shoulders may want legal representation.

Cybernews reports a Tandem OLED display branded PROLED XDR, with 14-inch and 16-inch models powered by M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. Preorders are open, with sales scheduled for November 6.

The 14-inch M5 Pro starts at $2,899.

THE REAL NEWS

A video shared by tech analyst Neil Cybart showing macOS window controls responding to touch sparked criticism. Viewers reported apparent misinputs and glitches and questioned the ergonomics of reaching toward a laptop screen.

THE ABSURD

Apple spent years perfecting the trackpad. Now you can pay $2,899 to ignore it and poke the screen like you're waking a goldfish.

Lil'meme reached for the controls. His shoulder bought AppleCare.

THE BREAKDOWN

Touch is natural on a tablet held in your hands. Reaching past a laptop keyboard is different.

THE UPSIDE

Touch offers another way to use macOS. A commenter preferred a fold-back design with Apple Pencil support for drawing; those features aren't confirmed here.

THE LIL'MEME VERDICT

Apple made the MacBook touchable. Whether it's more usable remains the expensive question.

My shoulder bought AppleCare. My wallet needs intensive care.
