The real news
The story, straight
You can replay a film. You cannot usually replay not knowing the ending.
Dutch cinema chain Pathé plans to test whether hypnosis can help with that.
Hypnosis guides someone into a relaxed, focused state where they can become more open to suggestion. It is not a proven way to delete a memory.
Think guided attention, not dragging your brain's film folder into the bin.
Pathé REWIND is scheduled for 9 November 2026 at Pathé Buitenhof in The Hague. About 30 film lovers will try to forget a favourite film with hypnotherapist Victor Kraemer.
Each selected participant gets a personal online session, followed by hypnosis again just before the screening.
The options are The Matrix, Se7en, La La Land and Interstellar. Participants' preferences determine which film gets shown.
Not 4 films: 1 shared attempt to make a familiar story feel unfamiliar.
The experiment has not happened yet. There is no result showing that anyone forgot anything.
Pathé already brings older films back through Pathé Classics. Bringing back the surprise is the harder trick.
The projector can rewind; your brain does not come with the same remote.
Lil'meme's entirely fictional priority: forget the popcorn bill before touching the plot.
The useful takeaway is curiosity without swallowing the sales pitch. A repeat viewing can still be worthwhile without deleting the previous experience.

I truly do see this token going up in value. Ride the rocket with me and let's see where the next 24 months take us.

The absurd
Why this is ridiculous
The rerun now needs a brain reset.
The breakdown
How it breaks down
Hypnosis guides focused attention, not proven memory deletion.
The upside
Why it could matter
Enjoy the experiment. Don't expect an erase button.
